Norway and Spain Provide Financial Support for the Palestinian Budget of Approximately $6 Million
SadaNews - The Ministry of Finance announced today, Monday, that the Norwegian government has agreed to provide additional support for the general budget amounting to $4 million, as part of an amendment to the previously signed agreement between the two sides.
This announcement came during a meeting between Finance Minister Omar Al-Bitar and the representative of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Erik Berghaf, at the ministry's headquarters in Ramallah, where the two sides discussed ways to enhance financial and economic cooperation.
Minister Al-Bitar confirmed that this support reflects Norway’s firm commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and assisting the government’s efforts to strengthen the resilience of state institutions and sustain public services, praising Norway's positive role as an active partner in supporting Palestinian economic development.
For his part, Berghaf emphasized the continuation of joint cooperation to enhance financial stability and enable the Palestinian government to meet its obligations towards its citizens.
Spain Provides 2 Million Euros to Support Salaries of Palestinian Employees and Retirees
Finance Minister Omar Al-Bitar signed today, Monday, with the Spanish Consul General José Navarreté a memorandum of understanding to support the salaries program for civilian employees and retirees in Palestine, through the "PEGASE" mechanism, under which the Spanish government has provided an amount of 2 million euros for the year 2025.
This support comes as part of strengthening the partnership between the State of Palestine and the Kingdom of Spain, renewing Madrid's commitment to support the budget of the State of Palestine and contribute to the sustainability of essential services provided to citizens.
