Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy Requires Express Mail Companies to Provide Electronic Payment Methods

Echo Economy - The Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy announced that Minister Dr. Abdul Razak Netcha has issued a ministerial decision requiring international and local express mail companies to provide modern electronic payment methods (POS - Point of Sale) as a primary option for collecting payment for parcels and services.

According to the decision, all express mail companies must comply with providing electronic payment services, especially when offering cash on delivery (COD) services, within a maximum period of 30 days from the date of the decision's issuance. The decision also mandates companies to organize a media awareness campaign lasting three months to explain the mechanisms and benefits of electronic payment. This campaign should reach various segments of society using traditional media and social media platforms to ensure the message reaches citizens and beneficiaries of delivery services, emphasizing that all payments exceeding 500 shekels must be made exclusively through electronic payment methods.

The ministry clarified that starting from the end of the campaign period (three months), it will be prohibited for mail companies to accept any cash payments exceeding 500 shekels upon delivery, and these amounts must only be collected through approved electronic payment methods. The Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy will closely monitor the implementation of the decision.

It stated that this decision aligns with the government's direction towards enhancing the digital economy, reducing reliance on cash, providing safer and faster services for both citizens and companies, and ensuring a more transparent and secure business environment.
