Telecommunications Regulatory Authority: Record Growth in Fiber Optic Subscriptions and Significant Improvement in Internet Speeds in Palestine

SadaNews - The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority announced a notable increase in the number of subscribers to fiber optic internet services in Palestine over the past three years, indicating a clear acceleration in the shift toward high-speed digital services. According to the Authority's data, the number of subscribers rose from 143,982 in 2023 to 251,135 in 2024, marking a growth rate of 76%. The first half of this year (2025) recorded a total of 293,561 subscribers, representing an additional increase of 16% compared to the previous year. In parallel, performance data showed a significant increase in the average internet speed (median) in July 2025 compared to the same month in 2023, where the speed in July 2023 was about 59.68 Mbps, while it rose in July 2025 to 73.47 Mbps, an increase of 13.79 Mbps. In this context, the Authority stated that this growth reflects the success of national efforts in expanding digital infrastructure and stimulating investment in modern communication technologies, meeting the growing demand for high-speed internet services across various governorates and enhancing the quality of the digital experience for users. The Executive Director of the Authority, Engineer Laith Dragmeh, confirmed that these positive indicators reflect the success of national efforts to expand digital infrastructure and develop the telecommunications sector, emphasizing that the Authority continues to support the expansion of fiber technologies and improve the efficiency of digital services, contributing to providing faster and more reliable internet services for citizens and enhancing the path toward the Palestinian digital economy.
