Minister of Economy Meets Experts and Representatives from the Public and Private Sectors in the First Meeting of the Competition Committee

SadaNews - The Minister of National Economy, Mohammad Al-Amour, chaired today, Wednesday, the first meeting of the Competition Committee, which includes experts and representatives from the public and private financial sectors, as well as experts in economic and legal fields.

The meeting comes as part of the preparations led by the Ministry of National Economy to implement the Competition Law, which will come into force on November 27, 2025, aimed at protecting and promoting competition, encouraging competitive behavior among enterprises, ensuring freedom of investment, and preventing monopolies and exclusion in the Palestinian market.

The minister emphasized the importance of the committee's convening, as it will play a significant and strategic role in establishing the foundations and pillars necessary for ensuring readiness to implement the law in accordance with governance principles and collaborative work with all sectors.

The committee, with its legislative and policy tasks, discussed the mechanisms for applying the law, benefiting from international studies and experiences, forming specialized committees for follow-up, and scheduling the second meeting within two weeks.

The committee is chaired by the Minister of National Economy and includes representatives from the Ministries of Communications and Digital Economy, Agriculture, Industry, as well as representatives from the Capital Market Authority, the Palestinian Monetary Authority, the Water Authority, the Energy and Natural Resources Authority, the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the General Union of Palestinian Industries, a representative from consumer protection associations, and experts in the economic and legal fields.
