Palestinian Minister of Industry Discusses Industrial Cooperation with Japanese Ambassador and JICA Representative

SadaNews Economy - The Palestinian Minister of Industry, Chairman of the Board of the General Authority for Industrial Cities and Free Industrial Zones, Mr. Arafat Asfour, discussed with the Japanese Ambassador to the State of Palestine, Araki Katsuhiko, and the JICA General Representative, Mitsutaka Hoshi, the continuation of joint cooperation in the field of developing industrial cities.

The minister expressed his appreciation for the ongoing support provided by the Japanese government to Palestine in various sectors, particularly the pioneering Japanese role in supporting vital developmental projects, foremost of which is the Jericho Agricultural Industrial City, which represents the fruits of continuous Japanese support.

During the meeting, he reviewed the authority's efforts to develop specialized industrial cities in various governorates, including Hebron and Jenin, to support national industries and create new job opportunities, in addition to highlighting major ongoing projects, including the completion of the second phase of the infrastructure in the Jericho Agricultural Industrial City. He also mentioned following up on the implementation of the road project linking the city to the Jordanian Shore area to facilitate trade movement to and from the industrial cities.

For his part, the Japanese ambassador renewed his country's commitment to continue supporting the authority and the Palestinian industrial sector despite the challenges and difficult circumstances, affirming that the Jericho Agricultural Industrial City project represents the outcome of fruitful cooperation between the two sides.

In turn, the JICA representative pointed out that the past years have witnessed the implementation of a series of joint projects, during which technical and promotional support was provided through Japanese experts specializing in the development of industrial cities, reiterating the continuation of support and cooperation in the forthcoming period.
