Statistics: Wholesale Price Index Rises by 11.78% in the Second Quarter of This Year

SadaNews - The general wholesale price index in Palestine recorded an increase of 11.78% in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the first quarter of the year.

The Central Bureau of Statistics reported in a statement released today, Sunday, that the prices of locally produced and consumed goods increased by 27.73%, while imported goods rose by 3.73%. This is due to the rising price levels in the Gaza Strip as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the region, where goods from the sector represent 17% of the total wholesale basket of goods and services.

It added that the wholesale prices of goods in the wholesale trade sector, excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased by 13.29%, which constitutes 89% of the wholesale trade. The wholesale selling prices for a range of categories increased as follows: gaseous fuel types by 94.33%, live animals by 40.30%, agricultural waste and residues used as animal feed by 15.35%, fruits and vegetables by 11.88%, animal and vegetable fats and oils by 9.30%, liquid fuel types by 8.65%, and fish and meat and their products by 8.33%.

It pointed out that, conversely, wholesale selling prices for a range of categories decreased as follows: grain and seed products by 24.05%, metal and non-metal waste and other materials for recycling by 14.19%, fabrics by 3.06%, and footwear by 2.93%.

The wholesale and retail trade section recorded a decrease of 3.46%, which constitutes 11% of the wholesale trade, with prices for maintenance and repair of motor vehicles declining by 4.44%, and wholesale or retail prices for new vehicles decreasing by 4.14%.
