Has Washington Settled on Leading the World?
Before the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s, discussions revolved around a bipolar international system. After its collapse, the focus shifted to a multipolar system, including China, India, BRICS countries, and ASEAN, among others. However, it seems that U.S. President Trump wants to implement the slogans he raised during his electoral campaign and at the beginning of his administration (America First) and (Make America Great Again), even in defiance of international law and his traditional allies in Europe.
When no country, even Russia and China, can do what Washington has done and continues to do—such as bombing other countries, abducting heads of state from their residences, threatening other leaders, and threatening to annex neighboring countries—this means that the United States is the world's foremost superpower and is seeking to establish a new international system under its sole leadership, a system that is free from the legacy of the previous international order and is not bound by the international legitimacy and laws of the former system, even surpassing the traditional concept of state sovereignty, and is hostile to all progressive and leftist countries and movements in the world.
But can Trump actually do that?
So far, the reactions of the majority of countries in the world, including major ones, suggest that Trump is achieving victories in this area. He has managed to utilize media effectively and applies a shock policy that has bewildered states and peoples, especially those opposing Washington. However, the shock policy is linked to Trump's permanence at the helm of the U.S. administration on one hand, and the extent of the silence from countries opposed to Trump's policy, such as Russia, China, India, Iran, and some countries in South America, on the other.
If Trump is extended for another term or if the Republican Party succeeds in the upcoming elections, and if the state of shock persists among the anti-Washington camp, then Trump will succeed in changing the world and subjecting it to American (and thus Israeli) politics and interests.
