Brazilian President: Washington Will Become a Pirate If It Imposes a Tax on Hormuz Ships
SadaNews - Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva considered that the United States would act like "pirates" if it imposed a tax on ships crossing the Hormuz Strait, as proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump earlier.
Trump proposed - in a post on his platform "Truth Social" - a tax that the United States would collect amounting to "20% of the value of shipments" from ships wishing to cross the strait.
Lula da Silva stated during a public event in São Caetano do Sul in São Paulo state: "In the past, that was considered piracy."
He added: "The United States is an important country, and I believe it fought piracy for a long time, and today it cannot act like pirates."
