Israeli Incursion and Gunfire in the Countryside of Daraa, Syria

SadaNews - Israeli forces penetrated, on Wednesday, into the Al-Ruqaad Valley area in the western countryside of Daraa in southern Syria, and opened fire before withdrawing from the area.

The Syrian news channel reported that the Israeli forces advanced along the Al-Ruqaad road and opened fire before withdrawing, with no information on casualties or material damage reported, and there was no immediate comment from the Syrian side.

This incursion comes just a day after Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara condemned "the ongoing Israeli violations that undermine the security of the entire region," and called on Israel to withdraw from the territories it occupied in southern Syria.

Al-Shara stated during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron that, "The foundation of true stability requires an international commitment to obligate Israel to return to the disengagement agreement of 1974 and to fully withdraw from the areas it occupied after December 8, 2024."

Southern regions of Syria have witnessed repeated Israeli incursions and assaults for months, including raids, searches, and arrests, alongside the establishment of military checkpoints.

These movements have escalated following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024, and Israel's declaration of the collapse of the disengagement agreement signed in 1974, along with its control over the Syrian buffer zone.
