US Official: Iran Will Face Consequences for Its Actions in Hormuz

SadaNews - A US official said today, Tuesday, that Iran will face consequences for its actions in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that the United States "will never accept" what he described as Iranian practices in the vital waterway. The official added that Washington has revoked the general license that allowed the sale of Iranian oil, as part of its tightening measures against Tehran. The US official also confirmed that negotiators continue to work in good faith to reach a final agreement with Iran. This came after three ships came under attack in the Strait of Hormuz in the past twenty-four hours, including a Qatari liquefied gas tanker that Doha accused Tehran of targeting, despite a ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran. The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency reported that three tankers were attacked between Monday and Tuesday. The first vessel was hit by an unidentified projectile on its left side while it was sailing off the coast of Oman, which led to fires onboard, according to the British agency. The agency also reported two other incidents, where an unidentified projectile targeted an oil tanker causing "structural" damage, and a drone of unknown origin targeted another oil tanker, without directly accusing any party. None of the attacks resulted in injuries or environmental damage.
