Prime Minister Calls for Intensifying Field Visits and Interventions in Various Villages and Towns, Especially Targeted Ones
SadaNews - Today, during the opening of the weekly Cabinet session, Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Mustafa directed various government institutions to intensify field visits and interventions in various villages and towns, particularly the targeted ones, and to work on providing everything possible to strengthen the resilience of citizens and alleviate their suffering.
Additionally, the Cabinet warned of the deterioration of the humanitarian situation and the worsening suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip, amidst the disruption of reconstruction projects, severe shortages of food, fuel, and domestic gas, and the ongoing siege with over 1,000 days since the war and more than eight months since the ceasefire agreement came into effect. The Council emphasized that the continuation of this reality threatens to exacerbate the humanitarian disaster, calling on the United Nations, international and humanitarian institutions, and intermediary countries to exert greater and more effective pressure to compel the Israeli occupation to open the crossings, ensure the immediate, sufficient, and sustainable flow of aid and essential materials, expedite reconstruction efforts, and protect civilians, especially children, from the repercussions of the escalating crisis.
In the West Bank, the past seven days have seen over 391 assaults carried out by the occupation forces and settler militias, including six shooting incidents, 51 closures and access denials, and 169 incursions executed by the occupation forces.
Moreover, the Cabinet commended the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education regarding educational interventions for students in Gaza, as, simultaneously with the 1,000 days since the aggression, the ministry was able to conduct the Tawjihi (high school) exam for over 100,000 students over three years, in addition to interventions related to virtual schools and educational points for hundreds of thousands of students in the Strip, coinciding with the successful experience of conducting Tawjihi exams electronically, deemed a step towards enhancing electronic assessment and digital transformation.
In another context, the Council discussed an updated version of the 2026 Development Project Priorities Document, as an approved national framework to guide development efforts in the West Bank, which includes the identification and endorsement of dozens of priority projects, some of which have been prepared and are being primed for approval and funding mobilization for their implementation.
The Council also received a briefing from the Minister of Agriculture regarding the progress on vaccinating and tagging approximately 63,000 heads of sheep over about two weeks. Despite the shortage of vaccines for the new strain of foot-and-mouth disease, the government managed to provide and purchase about 200,000 additional vaccines, which will arrive soon to ensure that the largest possible number of livestock and cattle are vaccinated.
Furthermore, the Minister of Transport and Communications provided an overview of the efforts being made to organize a suitable environment and better services for public transportation hubs across various governorates, alongside a plan being developed to regulate the operation of car repair shops, especially in areas close to residential populations, in coordination with relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with public safety procedures and the protection of citizens' lives and properties.
In a related context, the Council approved the Ministry of Transport and Communications' request to renew personal licenses for Palestinians residing abroad from the Gaza Strip for a full year, deferring the legally stipulated fees to be collected later, in addition to easing procedures, especially accepting medical examinations from specialized centers in the country where the applicant resides instead of requiring a special report from the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The Council also approved the formation of the Board of Directors of the National Cybersecurity Authority, which aims to build an effective cybersecurity system at the national level and protect digital assets and infrastructure. It is responsible for preparing the national cybersecurity strategy and overseeing national teams responding to cybersecurity incidents, among other responsibilities and tasks.
The Council endorsed, in its final reading, the draft law regarding quotas and commodity lists and referred it to the president for issuance in accordance with the procedures. This will govern the procedures for distributing quota shares in a manner that ensures transparency, equal opportunities, and combating monopolies, and includes the formation of a committee to distribute quantities and shares of goods based on criteria that the committee will follow when reviewing applications, among other specifications.
The Council also discussed, in its first reading, a draft regulation for governing health service professions to ensure the organization of professional practices, providing the necessary protection for beneficiaries including children, women, the elderly, and others, and ensuring they receive the necessary healthcare based on preserving their human dignity, and establishing complaint and grievance mechanisms for beneficiaries… among other goals.
The Council also approved a memorandum of cooperation between the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Russian Center for the Rescue of Antiquities.
