Attack on tanker in Hormuz.. the third of its kind in 24 hours
SadaNews Economy - The British Maritime Trade Operations agency reported on Tuesday that a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz was attacked, marking the third incident of its kind targeting a ship in the vital waterway within 24 hours.
The "UKMTO" agency stated in a post on X platform that it received "a report of an additional incident involving a tanker while transiting through the Strait of Hormuz. The tanker was hit by an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle (drone), sustaining minor structural damage. No injuries or environmental impacts were reported."
Informed sources reported on Tuesday that a Qatari liquefied natural gas tanker and a crude oil tanker flying the Saudi flag sustained damage near the Strait of Hormuz, following reports that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard fired missiles at the two vessels during their passage through the waterway overnight.
A source said that the vessel "Al-Ruqiyat" was carrying liquefied natural gas and sent distress signals requesting assistance after its port side was targeted.
Other sources added that the crew members of the ship are safe and are being evacuated, but the engine room caught fire and filled with smoke, and the crew could not assess the extent of other damages.
