Court Sentences Marine Le Pen to 3 Years in European Funds Embezzlement Case
SadaNews - The Paris Court of Appeal ruled today to imprison far-right leader Marine Le Pen for three years, with two years suspended, in addition to another year of house arrest with an electronic bracelet, which is expected to complicate her participation in the presidential campaign. The elections will take place in April 2027, nine months from now.
The French court, according to SadaNews translation, found Marine Le Pen guilty of misusing public funds and ordered her removal from public life for 45 months, of which 30 months are suspended.
According to media reports, the interest of the right-wing factions in France (and perhaps in other countries including Israel) is to oust Le Pen, as the candidate who would succeed her in the presidential elections is the young Jordan Bardella.
According to all opinion polls and assessments, Bardella is the most likely candidate to assume the position of the next president of France from the political right.
It is worth noting that Le Pen herself had narrowed the gap with Macron during the recent electoral campaigns, but she attempted to do so repeatedly without success.
