Martyrs due to escalation in Lebanon and attacks targeting Akka, Nahariya, and Kiryat Shmona

SadaNews - On this Sunday, the Israeli military escalation in Lebanon continues with intensified airstrikes and shelling operations in the south and Bekaa Valley, alongside diplomatic and security movements hosted by the United States. A new round of talks is scheduled to take place between representatives from Lebanon and Israel at the U.S. Department of Defense headquarters, following a previous security meeting held at the end of the week.

A number of Lebanese were martyred and several others injured in escalating Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon, while the Israeli army reported the death of a soldier and injuries to four others following the explosion of a drone bomb it claimed was affiliated with Hezbollah, which targeted an Israeli military unit in southern Lebanon around 10:30 PM on Saturday.

On the ground, the Israeli army announced the start of a large-scale military operation in the Shuqif Highlands and the Salouki Valley in southern Lebanon. The Haaretz newspaper cited Israeli officers expressing concerns within the military institution about a potential withdrawal from Lebanon under combat conditions, alongside dissatisfaction regarding the military's lack of knowledge about the details of ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

Simultaneously, sirens in the northern part of the country did not stop throughout the day, warning of rocket and drone attacks carried out by Hezbollah. The alerts covered several border sites and towns, including Kiryat Shmona and its surroundings, while the attacks showed a widening scope, reaching areas beyond the border line, extending to Akka and Kiryot north of Haifa, indicating an increase in the depth of the attacks launched by the party amid the Israeli escalation.

Conversely, a Lebanese military source reported that Israeli forces had advanced in areas north of the Litani River and reached the vicinity of the city of Nabatieh, with ongoing shelling operations and the demolition of homes in several southern towns, including Dabain, Deir Zahrani, and other areas in the districts of Nabatieh and Marjeyoun.
