Trump's Meeting Ends Without Outcomes.. Hegseth: America is "Fully Capable" of Resuming War with Iran

SadaNews - U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated in Singapore today (Saturday) that the United States has sufficient stockpiles of weapons and is "fully capable" of resuming war with Iran.

During the Shangri-La Dialogue on Defense, Hegseth declared, "We are fully capable of resuming operations if necessary."

He added, "Our stockpiles are suitable for this, both domestically and globally, given the way we balance high-tech munitions and other munitions produced in larger quantities."

He considered that any agreement with Iran would be a good agreement.

In this context, U.S. President Donald Trump concluded a meeting late Friday - Saturday, which was previously described as a decisive gathering to reach an understanding with Iran, according to a White House official who confirmed this to the media.

The official did not clarify whether Trump had made a decision during this meeting, which took place in the White House Situation Room. The U.S. official stated that the meeting lasted nearly two hours and included Trump's national security aides.

Additionally, the "New York Times" cited a U.S. official stating that Trump "did not make any decision regarding the agreement, as there are still issues under discussion, including Iran's frozen assets."

A White House official told Agence France-Presse that the U.S. president would not enter into an agreement with Iran unless it met all his conditions. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated: "The meeting held in the Situation Room (in the White House) ended after about two hours. President Trump will not accept any agreement that does not serve America's interests or does not meet his red lines. Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons."

Earlier, Trump had announced that he was preparing to make a "final decision" regarding a possible understanding with Iran, while Tehran insisted that there was "no final agreement" yet to provide a framework for talks to end the war between them.

Sources and media outlets in the United States and Iran have circulated sometimes contradictory information about the understanding that the two countries are negotiating over with Pakistani mediation, following three months of conflict that shook the global economy. Both sides have exhibited escalating or calming stances in line with these reports.

Trump wrote on his social media platform "Truth Social" on Friday: "I will now hold a meeting in the Situation Room to make the final decision." He added: "Iran must agree that it will never possess nuclear weapons or a nuclear bomb. The Strait of Hormuz must be immediately opened, without fees, for unrestricted navigation in both directions, and all naval mines will be eliminated."

He continued that the ships trapped in the Strait of Hormuz due to the U.S. blockade will move, indicating that this blockade "will now be lifted." He also mentioned that the United States would "extract the enriched materials in close cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, in addition to the International Atomic Energy Agency, and these will be destroyed, with no money exchanged until further notice."
