The Head of the New Mukar Council and His Deputy Injured in Serious and Moderate Condition in Shooting Incident

SadaNews - The head of the local council of New Mukar, Suhail Malhim, and his deputy, Obaid Obaid, sustained serious and moderate injuries as a result of being targeted in a shooting incident in the town shortly after midnight on Sunday - Monday.

A statement from the Galilee Medical Center (Nahariya Hospital) described the condition of the head of the New Mukar council (55 years old) as serious, while his deputy (49 years old) was described as moderate. Both are suffering from injuries to their limbs and have been admitted to the intensive care unit for treatment.

The "Hayan" Medical Center reported that its staff dealt with a patient whose condition was described as very difficult, and he was then quickly transferred to the Galilee Medical Center (Nahariya Hospital).

The Israeli occupation police stated that the incident resulted in two men suffering serious injuries, and mentioned that they have begun an investigation into the circumstances of the crime. They have also set up checkpoints and pursued the perpetrators, while continuing to fail to provide security and safety for Arab citizens amid rampant crime and a lack of deterrence.

This crime comes at a time when the Arab community is witnessing daily incidents of violence and murder, resulting in injuries and casualties. The police attribute most of these crimes to criminal and personal disputes, while observers point to deeper social and economic factors contributing to the exacerbation of the phenomenon.

Crimes have reached an unprecedented rise within the Arab community since the beginning of this year, with a total of 101 fatalities recorded. Data shows that about 96 of the victims were killed by gunfire, alongside stabbing crimes, while a woman was burned inside a vehicle and a young man was killed due to a deliberate hit-and-run incident.
