US Military Announces Strikes on Targets in Iran
SadaNews - The US Central Command announced on Wednesday that the US military has begun carrying out additional strikes against Iran, aiming to "undermine its ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz."
The command stated in a statement that the United States holds Iran responsible for what it described as "unjustified recent attacks" on commercial ships and civilian crews navigating the vital international waterway.
The statement also added that the US military movements come as part of protecting freedom of navigation and ensuring the security of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important maritime passages for global trade.
For his part, a US official stated that the US military is carrying out strikes on Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz, according to "Axios."
Explosions in Bandar Abbas and Sirk
In contrast, explosions were heard in the city of Bandar Abbas and its surroundings, while Iranian air defenses announced their interception of what they described as "hostile targets" near the city located in the south of the country, according to the Mehr news agency.
Explosions were also heard in the Sirk area and near Konarak and Chabahar.
Simultaneously, the Mehr news agency reported that the Iranian air defenses are participating in intercepting "hostile targets" near Bandar Abbas.
For his part, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister stated that "the recent actions taken by the United States will not go unanswered."
