"Collaborate with Us".. Iranian Messages Raise Concerns Inside Israel
SadaNews: Israel has witnessed a wave of text messages attributed to Iranian hackers in recent hours, which reached thousands of mobile phones in Hebrew.
According to a report published by Israel Hayom, the messages included calls for Israelis to collaborate with Iran, alongside threatening phrases, including: "You will soon see the sun in the night sky," echoing warning messages that were previously circulated during periods of tension between the two sides.
The site noted that the messages spread overnight from Monday to Tuesday morning, with users reporting receiving messages urging them to contact "Iranian intelligence entities" online or through Iranian embassies in various countries.
One of the messages stated, according to the source: "The Islamic Republic of Iran invites you to cooperate in the field of intelligence," while others included internal political criticisms related to the ongoing war, in addition to messages that said: "We promised you that you will soon see stars in the night sky that are not stars."
Israel Hayom quoted the Israeli National Cybersecurity Authority as saying that these messages aim to "manipulate citizens and induce panic," as well as attempting to push them to hand over personal information to "hostile entities" under various pretexts.
The authority added that investigations are ongoing to identify the source of the messages and stop their spread, pointing out that some were sent from numbers with fictitious names like "IntelOp."
These developments come amid a backdrop of escalating cyber and media confrontations between Iran and Israel, alongside ongoing security and military tensions in the region.
