The Government Reviews Its Key Development and Reform Interventions During the Past Week

SadaNews - The Government Communication Center issued its weekly report today, Sunday, reviewing the key development and reform interventions carried out by the Palestinian government during the period from 3-5-2026 to 9-5-2026, across various vital and service sectors.

The report indicated that Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa launched the "Palestinian Sun" program to finance energy projects for local authorities, with a value of $25 million, targeting 10 local authorities in its first phase. He also discussed with the Labor Unions Federation mechanisms to expand employment and vocational rehabilitation programs, and directed the unification of efforts to document the crimes of the occupation and settlers according to international standards, in addition to enhancing programs to attract foreign solidarity supporters.

In the social protection sector, the Ministry of Social Development implemented extensive interventions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, benefiting tens of thousands of families through food, health, and psychological assistance, and protection programs for women, children, persons with disabilities, and the elderly, as well as interventions for economic empowerment and support for community associations.

In the field of energy, the Energy and Natural Resources Authority, in partnership with the Palestinian Monetary Authority, launched the "Palestinian Sun" program to expand solar energy projects to reach 80 local authorities by 2030, aiming to raise the contribution of renewable energy to 30% and enhance energy independence.

On the diplomatic front, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates held a coordination meeting to resume preparing reports from the State of Palestine submitted to the United Nations, welcoming supportive European and international positions for Palestinian rights while condemning the settlement expansion and the obstruction of the "Global Solidarity Fleet" ships heading to Gaza.

In the infrastructure sector, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing continued to implement road, reconstruction, and shelter center projects in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including paving roads, issuing tenders for sanitary drainage and treatment plants, in addition to establishing new shelters and replacing tents with housing units.

The Ministry of Agriculture also continued to implement interventions to support food security and livestock, including the distribution of seedlings, seeds, olive trees, and fodder, and signing agreements to develop agricultural projects in partnership with local and international institutions.

In the local governance sector, the Ministry of Local Government completed projects to rehabilitate internal and main roads in Nablus and Salfit, and participated in the handover and receipt ceremonies of several municipalities and local councils, while the Carter Center praised the smoothness and transparency of the local authorities' elections.

The report indicated that the Cabinet, upon the recommendation of the Ministry of Labor, approved the exemption of workers who work in the occupied territories of 1948 and are unemployed from health insurance fees until the end of June 2026, while the ministry launched employment and vocational training projects that provided job opportunities in several governorates.

In the education sector, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education conducted advocacy and support tours for at-risk schools, honored outstanding students, and signed a memorandum of understanding with the British Council to enhance academic and research cooperation.

In the health field, the Minister of Health opened the first Palestinian International Nursing and Midwifery Conference 2026, while the ministry enhanced mental health services and vaccination programs and carried out thousands of inspection rounds on the pharmaceutical sector.

The report also reviewed the interventions of the Ministries of Culture, Interior, Tourism and Antiquities, Industry, and the Environmental Quality Authority, which included cultural and heritage projects, security and monitoring efforts, and activities to protect the environment, enhance local products, and monitor markets and industrial establishments.
