Presented by the "Ben Gvir" Party.. An Israeli Bill to Annul the Oslo Agreement
SadaNews: The Israeli ministerial committee for legislation is discussing today, Sunday, a bill that proposes to annul the Oslo Agreement and prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.
This bill comes amid a rising political climate within Israel that is reintroducing the agreement signed with the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1993 back to the debate table, according to Israeli Channel 12.
The Hebrew newspaper Ma'ariv stated: "The ministerial committee for legislative affairs in the Israeli government is discussing on Sunday a bill aimed at eliminating the legal and political obligations resulting from the agreements signed with the Palestine Liberation Organization."
Ma'ariv reported that the ministerial committee for legislation will discuss today a law presented by the "Ben Gvir" party to annul the Oslo agreements and their outcomes.
The law also discusses reverting the situation to what it was before the Palestinian Authority.
According to the report, Deputy Knesset Speaker Limor Son Har-Melech has put forward the bill, considering that the Oslo agreements "did not achieve peace, but instead led to a surge in violence and terrorism," as she put it, adding that the time has come for what she described as a "national correction."
In a post on the "X" platform, Melech called for the full annulment of the agreements, noting that the proposed bill is a first step in that direction.
She also spoke about the necessity of enhancing settlement in areas classified as (A) and (B) according to the Oslo agreements, emphasizing her commitment to preventing the establishment of a Palestinian state.
It is worth mentioning that the Oslo Agreement, officially known as the "Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements," was signed in Norway's capital Oslo on September 13, 1993.
It was signed at that time by the late Palestinian Liberation Organization Chairman Yasser Arafat and the late Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, under the auspices of former U.S. President Bill Clinton, and formed the basis for the establishment of the Palestinian National Authority as a transitional phase toward a final settlement.
