Trump: Iran Wants an Agreement and We Expect Its Response Soon

SadaNews - US President Donald Trump affirmed that he expects to receive a response from Iran "very soon" regarding the latest US proposals to stop the war between the two sides, noting that Tehran "still strongly desires to reach an agreement."

Trump’s remarks came during a phone call with French journalist Margot Haddad, where he discussed developments in the Iranian file, alongside the war between Russia and Ukraine.

The US President stated that Iran still shows a clear desire to reach an agreement at a time when US military and economic pressures on Tehran continue.

Trump's statements come as the United States continues to impose a naval blockade on Iran, as part of a military operation aimed at pressuring Tehran and forcing it to make concessions regarding its nuclear program and regional behavior.

The White House had previously confirmed that the blockade is "extremely successful" and has caused the "squeezing of the Iranian economy," while US officials emphasized that all options are still on the table regarding Tehran.

Talk about Ukraine and Russia

Regarding the war in Ukraine, Trump stated that it would be "good" to extend the current truce, considering that he played a direct role in reaching it between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

He added: "I negotiated the agreement myself with Putin and Zelensky," referring to the temporary ceasefire announced by Moscow coinciding with the celebrations of "Victory Day."

When asked about reports of Russia violating the truce the night before, Trump said he was not aware of that information, adding that he "doubts that it happened."

Trump's statements come despite accusations exchanged between Moscow and Kyiv in recent hours regarding violations of the ceasefire, as battles continue on several fronts in eastern Ukraine.
