Iraqchi: Washington's "reckless" adventures kill diplomacy
SadaNews - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Iraqchi confirmed that Tehran never succumbs to pressure, noting that Washington embarks on a "reckless military adventure" every time a diplomatic solution is proposed.
Iraqchi said on Friday in a statement published on his account on the platform "X" that "every time a diplomatic solution is on the table, the United States opts for a reckless military adventure".
Iraqchi questioned: "Is it a crude pressure tactic? Or the result of a saboteur again deceiving the President of the United States to drag him into another quagmire?".
He added: "Whatever the reasons, the result is the same: Iranians never bow to pressure, and diplomacy is always the victim".
"Ready 1000%"
In response to U.S. intelligence reports, the Iranian minister said: "The CIA is wrong, our missile stockpile and launch capabilities are not at 75% compared to February 28, the correct figure is 120%".
Iraqchi concluded his statement by discussing his country's defensive capabilities, saying: "As for our readiness to defend our people, it is: 1000%".
Iran reported last night that a firefight occurred between Iranian forces and American forces following what it called a "violation" by the latter against an Iranian oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Tasnim News Agency - citing a military source - the events of the night began with an American attack on an Iranian oil tanker, followed by targeting American military ships.
The New York Times reported - citing Iranian officials - that the sites targeted inside Iran were Bahman Pier, a shipbuilding factory in Qeshm, and an airbase in Bandar Abbas.
On its part, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that its forces intercepted Iranian attacks which it described as "unjustified", emphasizing that it responded "with defensive strikes".
U.S. President Donald Trump also said that the retaliatory strikes against Iranian targets following the Iranian attacks were merely a "light slap", stressing that the ceasefire is still in effect.
