Trump Threatens Iran with Stronger Attacks If It Doesn't Sign Agreement "Quickly": Ceasefire Still in Effect

SadaNews - U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Iran early Friday morning with more "intense" strikes if it does not sign an agreement "quickly" following Iranian attacks targeting three U.S. destroyers crossing the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump wrote on his platform "Truth Social" that "the three destroyers were not harmed, but severe damage was inflicted on the Iranian attackers," describing the downing of drones as "a butterfly falling into its grave!".

He added, "We will strike them harder and more intensely in the future if they do not sign the agreement quickly!".

The U.S. military announced that it intercepted Iranian attacks targeting three Navy ships in the Strait of Hormuz, indicating that it "targeted Iranian military sites responsible for the attacks on U.S. forces.".

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated in a social media post that the exchange of gunfire occurred while U.S. Navy destroyers were crossing the Strait of Hormuz, mentioning that U.S. forces intercepted "unjustified Iranian attacks" and responded with defensive strikes.

The U.S. military stated that the ships were not harmed and noted that it is not seeking escalation but is "still positioned and ready to protect U.S. forces.".

In contrast, Iranian forces accused the United States of violating the ceasefire agreement by attacking two ships in the Strait of Hormuz and conducting strikes on "civilian areas" in the south of the country, asserting that they responded by targeting U.S. military vessels.

The "Quds Headquarters," which is the central operations room of the Iranian armed forces, reported in a statement read on state television that "the U.S. aggressor... in violation of the ceasefire, targeted an Iranian oil tanker" and another ship while they were crossing the strait. It also mentioned "airstrikes on civilian areas, in cooperation with some regional countries, along the coasts of Bandar Khamir, Sirik, and Qeshm Island.".

For its part, the forces "responded by attacking U.S. warships... inflicting severe damage on them," according to the statement, which vowed that Iran would respond "decisively to any aggression without the slightest hesitation.".
