Israel Announces Elimination of the Commander of the Radwan Unit in Hezbollah

SadaNews: The Israeli army announced on Thursday the elimination of Ahmad Balout, the commander of the "Radwan Forces" unit in Hezbollah, in an air raid on the southern suburbs.

Israel launched an air raid on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Wednesday evening for the first time in nearly a month, resulting in the martyrdom of a senior Hezbollah leader, according to a source close to the group who spoke to the French news agency.

At least 11 other people were martyred in Israeli airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, while Israel continues its operations despite a ceasefire that took effect on April 17.

The source close to the group stated that "Malik Balout, the operations commander of the Radwan forces," was killed in the attack.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in a joint statement with the Israeli Minister of Occupation, Israel Katz, that the Israeli army "struck in Beirut the commander of the Radwan forces," which is an elite unit in Hezbollah.

The official National News Agency reported that "Israeli warplanes targeted (the region of) Ghbairi" in the southern suburbs.

Meanwhile, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir vowed from southern Lebanon to seize "every opportunity" to weaken the Iran-backed group, confirming that the army is prepared to launch a new attack against Iran.

Israel and Hezbollah are exchanging accusations of violating the ceasefire agreement in effect since April 17.

An air raid on the town of Zalaya, located in the western Bekaa region in eastern Lebanon and bordering its southern area, resulted in the deaths of at least 4 people, including two women and an elderly man, and injured 5 others, including a child and three women, according to the Ministry of Health.
