Israeli Officials: The Proposed Agreement Between Washington and Tehran is Disappointing

SadaNews - Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper revealed the stance of Israeli officials regarding the proposed agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as "disappointing" and carrying negative repercussions for regional security.

The officials clarified that the agreement could leave Iran's missile arsenal intact, raising concerns within the Israeli defense establishment. They also stated that it would relieve financial pressure on Tehran and provide it with economic breathing room at a time when the Iranian regime is nearing collapse.

They pointed out that the agreement will restrict the operational freedom of the Israeli army in Lebanon, which Tel Aviv considers to undermine its ability to confront direct threats from Iran-backed Hezbollah. They added that most of the Israeli defense establishment supports the continuation of the blockade on Iran as the most effective means of applying pressure on it.

The officials warned that the agreement would be harmful from the outset, expecting Iran to quickly violate it, considering it a "lifeline" for the Iranian regime. They expressed their discontent that the agreement would limit uranium enrichment for only 15 years, which they see as insufficient to prevent Iran from reaching nuclear weapons in the long term.

The statements concluded that Iran would wait for the end of the agreement period, then resort to making a nuclear bomb when U.S. President Donald Trump leaves office, reinforcing Israeli fears that the agreement does not provide long-term security guarantees.
