Independent Commission: Administrative Court Cancels Finance Minister's Decision to Stop Salary of Released Prisoner

SadaNews - The Independent Commission for Human Rights "Diwan al-Mazalim" announced on Monday evening that it had received a copy of the administrative court's decision issued on Sunday, May 4, from the administrative court session held in Ramallah, based on the lawsuit filed by the commission on 12/8/2025.

The decision cancels the implicit decision issued by the finance minister, which resulted in the suspension of the salary of prisoner Firas Ahmad Hassan since mid-2025, and obliges the finance minister to resume payment of his salary.

Independent Commission lawyer Ahmad Nasra clarified that the decision benefits all prisoners whose legal statuses are similar to that of the prisoner on whose behalf the lawsuit was filed against the canceled decision.

For his part, Amr Al-Duwik, the Director General of the Independent Commission for Human Rights, affirmed the need for the Ministry of Finance to immediately comply with the court's decision and work on reinstating the salaries of all prisoners whose salaries were cut, with retroactive effect from the date of the suspension.

The Independent Commission for Human Rights confirmed that this decision represents an important step in strengthening the rule of law and safeguarding rights, and calls on the relevant authorities to adhere to its implementation without delay.
