Fatouh thanks Egypt for allowing the holding of the Eighth Fatah Movement Conference for members present in Cairo
SadaNews - The head of the Palestinian National Council, Rouhi Fatouh, received the Egyptian consul to the State of Palestine, Mohamed Salah Darwish, at the council's headquarters, as part of discussions on the latest developments in the Palestinian arena.
During the meeting, Fatouh briefed the Egyptian consul on the difficult conditions faced by our people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, amidst the ongoing aggression and violations against Palestinian citizens.
He indicated the continuous violations that hinder efforts to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, along with the accompanying worsening humanitarian suffering, in addition to the ongoing attacks by settlers in the West Bank and their rampaging against Palestinian villages and gatherings, under the protection of the occupation forces, resulting in forced displacement and terrorizing civilians.
Fatouh also addressed the arbitrary closures of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the prevention of worshippers from accessing it, along with the violations affecting all Islamic and Christian holy sites, in a blatant infringement of freedom of worship and international law.
He commended the position of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in supporting the Palestinian cause and the fraternal relations with President Mahmoud Abbas, stressing the need to intensify international efforts to stop the aggression, provide international protection for our people, and ensure the urgent and sustainable entry of humanitarian assistance.
For his part, the Egyptian consul confirmed his country's keen follow-up on the developments in the Palestinian territories and its continued political and diplomatic efforts aimed at stopping the escalation and supporting the rights of the Palestinian people in achieving their freedom and establishing their independent state.
At the end of the meeting, the importance of continuing coordination and consultation was emphasized, contributing to enhancing the supportive stance for our people's rights at both the regional and international levels. Fatouh also thanked the Arab Republic of Egypt for hosting and allowing the Eighth Fatah Movement Conference for members present in Egypt who are unable to return to the State of Palestine.
