CENTCOM Confirms: Two American Commercial Vessels Successfully Transited Hormuz
SadaNews - Despite the Iranian threats that have escalated in recent hours and the warning against crossing the Strait of Hormuz without coordinating with Iranian forces, the U.S. Central Command announced that two commercial vessels flying the American flag successfully transited the passage.
CENTCOM also clarified in a statement on its X account today, Monday, that "American forces are actively contributing to efforts to resume commercial navigation" in this vital strategic strait.
It confirmed that guided missile destroyers are present in the Arabian Gulf to support the Hormuz Strait operation, which was announced last night by U.S. President Donald Trump under the name "Project Freedom."
This followed claims by the Iranian armed forces earlier today that they prevented American naval units from entering the Strait of Hormuz. Local sources reported that Iranian forces fired two missiles at an American naval frigate, forcing it to turn back, according to Fars news agency affiliated with the Revolutionary Guard.
However, the U.S. Central Command later categorically denied the matter.
