Zamir Orders Investigation into His Soldiers Stealing Lebanese Property
SadaNews Translation - The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz reported on Friday that Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir issued orders yesterday, Thursday, to open an investigation by military police into the phenomenon of looting and stealing the property of Lebanese during ongoing operations in the southern part of the country.
According to the newspaper, as translated by SadaNews, Zamir ordered an increase in military police forces at all entry and exit points along the border and to conduct thorough inspections of every vehicle entering or leaving the operational area.
It indicated that this step aims to attempt to eliminate the phenomenon of looting and theft of Lebanese property.
Zamir's instructions came following Haaretz publishing evidence suggesting that Israeli soldiers have been looting large quantities of money and other properties belonging to the Lebanese.
