Airstrikes Target Sanaa Airport, Houthis Blame Saudi Arabia

SadaNews - The Houthi Ansar Allah movement announced moments ago that Sanaa International Airport has been subjected to several Saudi airstrikes, while the Yemeni Ministry of Defense claimed responsibility for the attack.

The spokesperson for the armed forces affiliated with the Houthis, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, indicated that Saudi airstrikes targeted Sanaa International Airport, describing the attack as "an unjust and brazen aggression."

Saree added that targeting the airport "has ended the de-escalation phase," holding Saudi Arabia accountable for the "consequences of its aggression," and asserting that the attack "will not go unanswered and unpunished," as he put it.

The "Al-Masirah" satellite channel, affiliated with the movement, reported that Sanaa International Airport was subjected to Saudi airstrikes, without providing additional details regarding the nature of the damages or casualties resulting from them.

The Ministry of Transportation, which is under the control of the Houthis, accused Saudi Arabia of targeting Sanaa International Airport with several airstrikes, deeming it a "serious escalation" and a continuation of the blockade on Yemen.

The ministry called on the United Nations and the international community to fulfill their responsibilities, warning of the repercussions of what it described as "repeated aggression."

This comes amid escalating tensions concerning air traffic at Sanaa Airport, following discussions about the group’s readiness to receive a new aircraft arriving from Iran, against the backdrop of objections from the Yemeni government, which insists on operating the airport within legal and sovereign frameworks.

For its part, the Yemeni Ministry of Defense announced that the legitimate armed forces targeted the runway at Sanaa International Airport this afternoon.

The ministry confirmed that the targeting is aimed at preventing an Iranian aircraft coming from Iran from landing at the Yemeni capital's airport, which is under Houthi control; however, eyewitnesses stated that the Iranian aircraft landed this morning.

At the same time, the Yemeni Minister of Defense, Major General Taher Ali Eida Al-Aqeeli, stated today, Monday, that "our patience has run out regarding the violations of Iranian aircraft entering Yemeni airspace, and we will respond to these violations."

Al-Aqeeli added: "We will confront the hostile Iranian aircraft by all available means."

Yemen - through its minister - held "Iran legally and morally responsible for violating Yemeni airspace."
