US Soldier Accused of Using Insider Information on Maduro's Arrest for Betting Market Gains
SadaNews - A US soldier faces allegations of using insider information to win $400,000 in an online betting market regarding the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, federal officials announced Thursday-Friday.
The US Attorney's Office in New York stated that Jannon Keene Van Dyke was part of the operation to arrest Maduro last January and used his access to classified information to profit through the "Polymarket" prediction market website.
According to the indictment, Van Dyke was a senior non-commissioned officer and part of the Special Forces community stationed at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina, but the indictment provides little additional detail about his military service.
