Syria: Israeli Army Arrests 3 People Including Two Children in Quneitra Countryside

SadaNews - The Israeli army has arrested 3 people, including two children, during its incursion into the countryside of Quneitra in the southwestern part of the country, on Tuesday and Monday, as part of ongoing violations.

The Syrian news agency "SANA" reported that "an Israeli occupation force infiltrated the village of Tarnaja in the northern Quneitra countryside on Tuesday morning, and arrested a resident of the village, taking him to an unknown location.".

It added that "the Israeli force raided several homes of the residents and arrested one of them before withdrawing later towards the town of Jubata al-Khashab in Quneitra countryside.".

The agency indicated that a force arrested, on Monday, two children in the old village of Brika in Quneitra countryside and took them to an unknown location.

Another Israeli force also infiltrated yesterday into the village of Abedin in the Yarmouk Basin area of the western countryside of Daraa, raiding a house in the village and searching it before withdrawing, according to "SANA.".

These developments come despite statements from Syrian President, Ahmad al-Shara, on Thursday, stating that negotiations with Israel have not reached a dead end, but they are proceeding with great difficulty due to its insistence on being present in Syrian territory.

In recent months, Israeli violations in southern Syria have been occurring almost daily, including raids and searches of homes, setting up checkpoints, as well as the arrest of civilians including children and shepherds.

After the downfall of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, Israel announced the collapse of the disengagement agreement made between the two sides in 1974, and occupied the Syrian buffer zone.

Although the new Syrian administration did not threaten Israel, the latter has launched airstrikes on Syria since the overthrow of Assad's regime, resulting in civilian casualties and the destruction of military sites, vehicles, and munitions.
