Zelensky Warns Belarus Against Slipping Back into Russia's War Against His Country

SadaNews - President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has warned Belarus against any further involvement in the war waged by Russia against his country, indicating that it should take heed of what happened to the former Venezuelan leader.

Zelensky stated, "The nature of what recently happened in Venezuela, and the repercussions of events there, should prevent the leadership of Belarus from making similar mistakes," according to the "German News Agency."

In January, the U.S. military carried out an operation in Venezuela that resulted in the arrest of its President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, transferring them to New York, where they remain detained and facing charges including conspiracy to smuggle drugs.

Zelensky revealed that Ukrainian intelligence has detected Belarus expanding its road network and constructing artillery sites in areas close to the border with Ukraine.

However, the Ukrainian president did not provide concrete evidence of these activities within Belarus.

Russia used Belarusian territory as a launch pad for its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Zelensky added, "We assume that Russia will attempt once again to drag Belarus into its war" against Ukraine.

He clarified that he has instructed the "relevant authorities" to issue a warning to Minsk regarding the potential consequences, emphasizing that Ukraine is prepared to defend its territory and independence.
