China: The US Blockade of Iran's Ports is Dangerous and Will Escalate Tension in the Region
SadaNews - China described the US blockade of Iranian ports as dangerous and irresponsible, asserting that a ceasefire is the only solution to de-escalate tensions.
During a press conference on Tuesday, spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, Zhao Lijian, stated that the US blockade of Iran's ports and the reinforcement of US military presence would exacerbate tensions in the region.
He warned that the intensification of US military operations and its directed blockade would only lead to heightened tensions, weaken the already fragile ceasefire agreement, and expose the security of navigation in the Strait to further risks.
He clarified that reports about China supplying weapons to Iran are purely slanderous and false.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson indicated that China calls on all parties to respect the ceasefire, adhere to dialogue and peace talks, and take practical steps to ease regional tensions and restore normal navigation in the Strait as soon as possible.
The United States had begun a blockade on Iranian ports following the conclusion of a round of negotiations in Pakistan without reaching an agreement between the two parties, amidst mutual accusations.
The Wall Street Journal reported that an American official stated that more than 15 US warships were deployed to blockade Iran at sea on Monday, as the United States seeks to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran closed in response to the war waged by Washington and Tel Aviv against it, which lasted nearly 40 days.
