Attorney General from Cairo: Towards More Effective Arab Judicial Cooperation Responding to Challenges
SadaNews - The Attorney General of the State of Palestine and Vice President of the Association of Arab Attorneys General for the Levant region, Counselor Akram Al-Khatib, participated in the works of the Executive Committee of the Association of Arab Attorneys General, held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with high-level participation from Their Excellencies, the Attorneys General of member states, namely the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Kingdom of Morocco, underscoring the importance of enhancing Arab joint work in the judicial field.
The Palestinian delegation included Assistant Attorney General Mr. Ashraf Arikat, and heads of the Public Prosecution Mr. Samer Al-Masri and Mr. Azam Tawafsha, reflecting an active Palestinian presence and advanced engagement in regional cooperation pathways.
During the meeting, the Attorney General provided a statement emphasizing that the complexities of the current phase, amidst escalating crises and their intertwined legal and humanitarian dimensions, necessitate the transition to an advanced model of judicial diplomacy, based on building more efficient and sustainable institutional frameworks, enhancing the capacity of public prosecution agencies to fulfill their role in protecting communities and preserving rights.
He also stressed the need to activate points of contact as a practical mechanism to expedite judicial cooperation procedures, ensure the quality of requests and their fulfillment, contributing to increasing efficiency in deliverables, alongside advocating for the unification of concepts and developing practices in combating crimes related to modern technologies.
In a related context, the Attorney General and the accompanying delegation visited the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Cairo, where they were received by His Excellency the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ambassador Diab Al-Louh. During the meeting, ways to enhance coordination between diplomatic missions and the Public Prosecution were discussed in a manner that serves national supreme interests, emphasizing the importance of complementary roles between diplomatic and judicial work, as they are essential pillars in establishing the rule of law and defending national rights in various forums.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of enhancing coordination and integration among Arab public prosecution agencies, supporting the effectiveness of judicial cooperation, contributing to protecting the security and stability of communities, and establishing justice as a shared value transcending borders.
