The Occupation Transforms Jerusalem into a Military Barracks Coinciding with the Commemoration of "Holy Saturday"

SadaNews - Israeli occupation forces transformed the city of Jerusalem, particularly the area of Bab al-Amud and the neighborhoods of the Old City, into a military barracks today, Saturday, deploying several checkpoints as Christian churches commemorate Holy Saturday, or "Holy Saturday of Light," at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in occupied Jerusalem.

Local sources reported that occupation forces set up military checkpoints on the roads leading to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Old City, hindering worshippers' access to the church to commemorate "Holy Saturday of Light" and checking the identities of several young men, preventing them from entering.

The Israeli occupation forces imposed strict military measures at the checkpoints surrounding occupied Jerusalem.

The Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem had called last Friday on our Christian people to participate in the commemoration of the rituals of "Holy Saturday of Light" at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in occupied Jerusalem.

The occupation forces had closed the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for 40 days, prohibiting prayers there, under the pretext of the Israeli-American war on Iran.

Christian churches that follow the Eastern calendar commemorate "Holy Saturday of Light," which precedes Easter Sunday (the Glorious Resurrection).
