Israeli Airstrikes on Lebanon.. and the Martyrdom of 12 State Security Elements
SadaNews - After U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that Israel had "reduced" the pace of its strikes on Lebanon, local sources reported today, Friday, that an Israeli airstrike hit the Qasmiyah plain in southern Lebanon, and another strike targeted the town of Duras in Baalbek, eastern Lebanon.
In this context, medical sources reported an increase in the number of martyrs among the State Security Agency personnel from an Israeli airstrike targeting the vicinity of the government headquarters in the city of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon to 12 personnel.
The official National News Agency had earlier announced on Friday that eight personnel from the State Security Agency were killed, indicating that the airstrike resulted in "the destruction of buildings... and targeted the State Security office."
Meanwhile, images documented significant damage to the government headquarters, where iron and debris were scattered from the building that caught fire.
"Dismantling" of 4,300 Hezbollah Sites in Lebanon
In parallel, the Israeli army announced on Friday the "dismantling" of more than 4,300 Hezbollah sites in Lebanon since the start of the war between them on March 2.
The Israeli army stated in a statement that "more than 1,400 Hezbollah elements have been killed and more than 4,300 infrastructure sites dismantled."
Meanwhile, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that at least 1,888 people have been martyred in the country, including 163 children, due to Israeli airstrikes since the beginning of the war.
Israeli-Lebanese Meeting
This comes as Israeli and Lebanese officials are expected to meet in Washington next week, as U.S. President Donald Trump seeks to calm the ongoing fighting for weeks between Israel and Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, and which threatens to undermine the fragile ceasefire reached between Washington and Tehran.
Both parties are under pressure from Trump to end the fighting, which is a key demand from Iran in parallel talks scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, in Pakistan.
Disarming Hezbollah
For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Thursday that Israel will begin negotiations with Lebanon. He clarified that the discussions will aim to achieve two goals: disarming Hezbollah and reaching a peace agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
However, Netanyahu and other officials did not mention whether they were willing to scale back ground operations or withdraw from their positions in Lebanon if the talks made progress.
Israel and Lebanon held American-mediated talks in 2022 that led to a bilateral agreement for maritime border demarcation between the two countries.
In December 2025, the two sides held indirect talks with the United States in Naqoura, southern Lebanon, in an attempt to solidify the agreement that ended the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in 2024.
