Trump: We Will Achieve Enormous Wealth by Opening the Strait of Hormuz and Controlling Oil
SadaNews - U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Friday that the United States is capable of opening the Strait of Hormuz with more time, amid increasing pressure on his administration to reach a quick end to the war with Iran. He wrote in a post on Truth Social, "With more time, we can easily open the Strait of Hormuz, take the oil, and achieve wealth."
Nearly five weeks after the war in Iran began with a joint U.S.-Israeli air strike, the conflict continues to create chaos in the region and destabilize financial markets, increasing pressure on Trump to find a quick solution to the conflict.
Iran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, through which about one-fifth of the world's oil passes, in response to U.S.-Israeli strikes that began in late February. The reopening of the strait has become a priority for governments worldwide as energy prices rise.
In his speech on Thursday, Trump reiterated his threats against Iranian civilian power stations and did not specify a clear timeline for ending hostilities, prompting Iran to threaten retaliation against any attack, which caused stock prices to drop.
A report released today by data company Windward revealed that the number of vessels that crossed the Strait of Hormuz has recently increased.
Windward stated that 16 cargo ships passed through the largely closed strait on Wednesday, compared to 11 ships the previous Tuesday. The number of vessels has increased for the third consecutive day.
However, this constitutes a small fraction of the traffic that the strait used to witness before the Iran war began on February 28 when Israel and the United States attacked Tehran.
Iran responded by largely shutting down traffic through the vital waterway for global oil and gas trade.
Windward indicated that most of the vessels that passed in recent days sailed close to the Iranian coast along Lark Island, allowing Iran to maintain a "selective permission-based blockade."
The report noted that three vessels also passed through the strait near the Omani coast to avoid the route controlled by Iran.
Ship tracking data released by MarineTraffic showed that one vessel, the LNG carrier Sohar, arrived off the coast of Muscat.
This is reported to be the first LNG carrier to pass through the strait since the outbreak of the war.
A container ship owned by a French entity passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday. Ship tracking data showed that the vessel "C.M.A.
