Protests in Tel Aviv and Other Locations Demanding an End to the War, Police Assault Protesters

SadaNews - Hundreds protested in Tel Aviv and several other Israeli locations demanding an end to the ongoing war against Iran, which entered its second month on Saturday after breaking out on February 28 last month. Hundreds participated in the central demonstration in Tel Aviv at "Habima" Square, called by a coalition of dozens of civil society and human rights organizations, and others active against the government. Israeli police dispersed the protesters and assaulted some, claiming violations of restrictions imposed under internal security regulations, which stipulate avoiding gatherings and limiting them to 50 people in most areas of the country, provided there is a safe space. Protesters in Tel Aviv held pictures of children killed since the war began in Iran, Lebanon, Israel, Gaza, and the occupied West Bank. These protests, held under the title "No to the Eternal War of the Theocratic Government, Yes to Just Peace and Security for the Peoples of the Region," took place throughout Saturday in about 20 locations across the country, including Jerusalem, the Karkur Junction near Pardes Hanna, and Haifa. Earlier on Saturday, about 30 people protested at the "Haguma" Junction against the government's war performance and what they described as damage inflicted on the residents of the north and border towns. The organizers stated, "We are being bombed without any warning time, while the ruling coalition is busy taking more powers for itself." Hundreds have previously protested against the war in Tel Aviv over the past two weeks, as the intensity of the war and mutual attacks between Israel and Iran, as well as Hezbollah, continue to escalate, with its reach extending to other countries including the Gulf and Iraq. The latest developments also included the Houthis' engagement alongside Tehran.
