President Receives Phone Call from the Indonesian President

SadaNews - President Mahmoud Abbas received a phone call today, Monday, from the Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, during which the latest developments regarding the situation in Palestine and the region were discussed, along with strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries and their brotherly peoples, and issues of mutual interest.

The president appreciated Indonesia's persistent and supportive positions toward Palestine and its people's cause, expressing gratitude for the governmental and popular assistance sent to the Gaza Strip throughout the war period.

The president stated: We welcomed President Trump's plan and the United Nations Security Council resolution No. 2803 to stop the war and alleviate the suffering of our people, and we also welcomed Indonesia's participation in creating stability and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the importance of continuing full coordination between the states of Palestine and Indonesia.

He added that we have always confirmed that the mission of the executive bodies of the Peace Council is transitional, stressing the necessity of coordinating the work of these bodies in the Gaza Strip with the Palestinian government, affirming that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the State of Palestine, and that the sovereignty of Palestinian institutions and laws in Gaza must not be compromised and must be linked to the West Bank.

The president pointed out the importance of solidifying the ceasefire and stopping Israeli violations that target the civilians of our people, clarifying that despite the difficult conditions in the region, it is essential to begin implementing the second phase of the United Nations Security Council resolution calling for a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and adhering to the principle of one state, one law, and one legitimate weapon.

The president warned of the seriousness of the situation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem due to Israeli policies represented by settlement expansion, land annexation, escalating settler terrorism, and the confiscation of Palestinian tax revenues, reiterating the danger of the occupation authorities closing the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher under the pretext of war.

The president said: The plans of the occupation authorities to implement the Greater Israel project pose a danger to the region and the entire world because they undermine the entire political process and violate all decisions of international legitimacy and international law, which necessitates an international stance to force the occupying state to backtrack on these destructive policies that affect all the countries of the region, and the necessity of holding a comprehensive international conference to achieve peace, stability, and security in the region, including ending the occupation and granting the Palestinian people their freedom and independence.

President Abbas reiterated the position of the State of Palestine in standing in solidarity with the Gulf states, Jordan, and the countries that are subjected to Iranian aggressions, and Lebanon which faces brutal Israeli assaults, and rejecting any aggressions or violations that affect the sovereignty of these countries and threaten their security and stability.

For his part, the Indonesian president congratulated the president and the Palestinian people on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, affirming Indonesia's steadfast positions in supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause, continuing to provide humanitarian assistance, and offering scholarships for Palestinian students.

President Prabowo Subianto also confirmed that Indonesia will continue to coordinate with the State of Palestine after the current war ends to fulfill its commitments regarding recovery and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip.
