London Police: Arson Engulfs 4 Ambulances of a Jewish Organization
SadaNews - The London police stated that an act of arson destroyed 4 ambulances belonging to a Jewish organization in the Golders Green area, north of the British capital, confirming that the incident is being treated as a hate crime motivated by anti-Semitism, according to the police.
The Metropolitan Police added in a statement on Monday that they have opened an official investigation following the deliberate setting of fire to vehicles belonging to the Jewish community's ambulance service, noting that police forces are still at the scene conducting investigations.
The police reported that they received a notification from the London Fire Brigade at 01:45 on the morning of Monday, March 23, indicating a fire on Hayfield Road in the Golders Green area. Upon arrival, security teams found that 4 ambulances belonging to "Hatzala," a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to responding to medical emergencies, were on fire.
The police clarified that nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, while surrounding roads were closed, with no injuries reported, and all fires were brought under control.
They added that reports of explosions were related to gas canisters that were on board the ambulances.
Local police supervisor Sarah Jackson stated that the incident "will cause serious concern within the Jewish community," noting that investigators are reviewing surveillance camera footage and online circulated videos, with preliminary estimates suggesting there are 3 suspected individuals.
Jackson added that no arrests have been made so far, confirming that security patrols have been intensified and communication with religious leaders is ongoing as investigations continue.
