Israel Endures a Difficult Night After the Assassination of Larijani: Raging Fires and Significant Destruction (Video)
SadaNews - Areas of southern and central Israel experienced a difficult night due to rocket barrages launched by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, in response to the assassination of the Secretary General of the National Security Council, Ali Larijani, and the commander of the Basij forces, Gholam Soleimani, in an Israeli airstrike on Tuesday.
Images displayed significant destruction and raging fires in buildings and vehicles due to the impact of Iranian rockets in the area of Holon in central Israel.
Last night was the fiercest in terms of Iranian rocket fire, which reached almost one barrage per hour.
The barrages last night relied more heavily on heavy rockets, particularly of the "Khoramshahr 4'" type, which carries an explosive warhead weighing two tons, and also included new cluster rockets that had never been used before, reaching speeds of 13 Mach.
Fars news agency reported that sources within the Revolutionary Guard stated they targeted a prominent figure in the ministerial committee, and that the recent strikes hit over 100 Israeli sites.
These strikes represented a practical and rapid response to Iran's threat to retaliate for the assassination of Larijani and Soleimani, and also to assert that its stockpile of rockets and launch platforms remains ample.
As the United States and Israel resort to assassinating political and diplomatic leaders after the target bank was depleted, Iranian responses send messages that new leaders are more hardline and believe that Americans are unwilling to pursue peace, according to analysts.
In Israel, authorities dispatched more forces and civil defense to handle the fires and destruction caused by Iranian rockets in Holon and Mishmar HaShiv'ah in central Israel.
A massive fire broke out in one building in Holon as a result of the impact of a warhead from an Iranian cluster rocket with heavy explosive warheads.
Footage showed fires raging and smoke rising from buildings and vehicles, as the central area experienced at least four rocket barrages on Tuesday night, while civil defense and firefighting teams attempted to deal with the damage and search for the injured, according to Khairi.
The Iranian attacks included southern Israel and occupied Jerusalem, where alarm sirens blared multiple times that night, while Israeli paramedics reported the deaths of two people and injuries to others from rocket attacks on "Ramat Gan" south of Tel Aviv.
After the assassination of Larijani and Soleimani, the commander of the aerospace force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Brigadier General Majid Mousavi, announced the start of what he described as "a rapid pace of overwhelming and impactful strikes in the region against the American-Zionist enemy."
For its part, the Guard announced the launch of the 61st wave of Operation "True Promise 4'" and stated that it was a response to the assassination of the two prominent figures.
