Seoul: North Korea Launches About Ten Ballistic Missiles
SadaNews - North Korea launched about ten ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan today (Saturday), according to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, while South Korea has been conducting annual military exercises with Washington since Monday.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff stated in a statement that the armed forces in Seoul detected "about ten unidentified ballistic missiles launched from the Sunan area in North Korea towards the East Sea around 13:20" (04:20 GMT), referring to the Korean name for the Sea of Japan.
This comes after North Korean state media revealed on Wednesday that the country's leader, Kim Jong Un, and his teenage daughter witnessed tests of strategic "cruise" missiles launched from a warship, while Pyongyang threatened to respond to the joint military exercises between the United States and South Korea.
Photos sent by the Korean Central News Agency showed the leader and his daughter in a meeting room as they watched a screen displaying the launch of weapons from the destroyer "Choi Hyun," which has completed its first year in naval service.
