Saudi Arabia: Destruction of Ballistic Missiles and 43 Drones in Various Areas
SadaNews - Major General Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, announced on Thursday the interception and destruction of a ballistic missile launched towards the Eastern Province, and another missile aimed at Prince Sultan Air Base in Al-Kharj (80 kilometers southeast of Riyadh).
Al-Maliki also revealed on Thursday the interception and destruction of 26 drones in the Eastern Province, and 16 "drones" in the Empty Quarter heading towards the "Shaybah" oil field (southeast of the country), as well as the downing of one drone while attempting to approach the Diplomatic Quarter in the capital, Riyadh.
The Saudi Civil Defense issued an alert on Thursday evening in Al-Kharj to warn of danger through the "National Early Warning Platform for Emergency Situations," before announcing its conclusion after about 7 minutes, calling for the continued adherence to its instructions, avoiding gatherings and photography completely, and staying away from danger zones.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed on Wednesday the UN Security Council's decision which condemned in the strongest terms the ongoing Iranian attacks on Gulf countries and Jordan, considering them a violation of international law and a serious threat to international peace and security.
The "Foreign Ministry" noted in a statement the international support for the decision and the global condemnations of those brutal Iranian attacks, calling for an immediate and unconditional cessation and halting any provocation or threat to neighboring countries, including the use of proxies.
Saudi Arabia affirmed its adherence to the contents of the decision and its full right to take actions that ensure the protection of its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and to deter aggression, as recognized in Article 51 of the UN Charter.
The Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday the interception and destruction of 9 ballistic missiles launched towards Prince Sultan Air Base, and one aimed at the Eastern Province, in addition to 12 drones in the Eastern Province, 8 in the Empty Quarter, 5 east of Al-Kharj, and 2 drones in Hafr Al-Batin (northeast of the Kingdom).
