Bahrain: Fire Breaks Out Due to Iranian Targeting of a Facility in Al-Muharraq

SadaNews - The National Communication Center in Bahrain announced on Monday morning that a fire broke out due to Iranian targeting of a facility in Al-Muharraq, resulting in material damage with no reported loss of life.

The center stated, according to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), that the relevant authorities are taking measures to extinguish the fire.

Reuters reported, citing a witness, that dense smoke was seen rising from the BAPCO oil refinery in Bahrain on Monday morning.

The witness said that the smoke surrounded the refinery after the government earlier announced injuries and damage occurred in the Sitra area as a result of an Iranian attack using drones.

BAPCO is the main oil refinery in Bahrain and a vital facility for the country’s energy sector.

Later, BAPCO declared a state of force majeure on the operations of the group affected by the current situation due to the ongoing Iranian assaults in the region and the recent brutal attack that targeted one of the units of the BAPCO oil refining company.

In the early hours of Monday, the Bahraini Ministry of Health announced an "evil Iranian attack using drones, which targeted the Sitra area at dawn, resulting in the injury of 32 civilians who are being treated according to established medical protocols, including 4 serious cases, among them children requiring surgical intervention," according to BNA.

The ministry indicated that "all the injured are Bahraini citizens, with injuries including a 17-year-old girl who suffered serious injuries to her head and eye, and two children aged seven and eight who sustained serious injuries to their lower limbs, while the youngest victim is a two-month-old infant."

The Ministry of Health noted that "the injured cases are under observation and monitoring by specialized medical teams," and that "the health system is on high alert, having raised its readiness in various vital departments since the onset of the evil aggression against the Kingdom of Bahrain."
