19 Martyrs in an Airstrike in Nabatieh: Israel Expands Its Strikes in Lebanon and Continues Displacing Southern Towns
SadaNews - The military confrontation in Lebanon continues amidst the American-Israeli war on Iran, with exchanges of attacks between Israel and Hezbollah and an escalation of Israeli airstrikes targeting Beirut and various regions. This comes at a time when the Israeli army announced the implementation of new waves of strikes, which it claims are targeting sites linked to Hezbollah and elements associated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in Lebanon.
In southern Lebanon, the Israeli army issued warnings today, Sunday, to residents of several villages in the Nabatieh area, including Arnoun, Yahmour, and both Eastern and Western Zawtar, urging citizens to evacuate their homes and head north. It stated that these warnings come in light of what it described as Hezbollah's activities in those areas, warning that buildings used for military purposes would be targeted.
Lebanese authorities have recorded the displacement of more than 450,000 people since the war began, those who officially registered their names with the government, and they urged those remaining displaced to register their names with the authorities. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of residents from the southern suburb of Beirut have fled following intense Israeli attacks that targeted buildings and facilities in Hezbollah’s stronghold in the Lebanese capital.
Nineteen civilians were martyred due to an airstrike carried out by Israeli warplanes early in the morning on the town of Sir al-Gharbiyeh in the Nabatieh district, targeting a three-story residential building and completely destroying it, resulting in casualties, most of whom were women and children. Civil defense and ambulance teams continue to clear the rubble and recover bodies, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.
In parallel, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that at least four people were killed and others injured as a result of an Israeli airstrike that targeted a room in one of the hotels in the Raouche area along the Beirut waterfront. Footage from the scene showed significant damage to the floor where the strike occurred, while emergency teams rushed to the site amid panic among guests who fled the hotel.
In response, Hezbollah announced the execution of a series of missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli sites, including the Gililot base, which houses the headquarters of military intelligence unit 8200 near Tel Aviv, in addition to the Ramla base belonging to the Home Front Command. The party also stated that it targeted military sites in northern Israel and gatherings of soldiers near the border, emphasizing that its attacks are in response to the Israeli strikes that have hit Lebanese areas in recent days.
