Kremlin: Beizhkian Updates Putin on the "Critical Phase" of the Conflict
SadaNews - Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Masoud Beizhkian agreed during a phone call to "continue communications through various channels," according to a statement issued by the Kremlin.
During the call, Putin expressed his condolences to Beizhkian for the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and members of his family, as well as military leaders and politicians in the country, in addition to the numerous civilian casualties resulting from the American-Israeli military aggression against Iran, according to the statement.
The statement noted, "Russia's principled position on the need for an immediate ceasefire was reaffirmed, as well as the rejection of coercive methods to solve problems related to Iran and the wider Middle East region, and a swift return to a political and diplomatic solution."
Putin indicated that he remains in constant contact with the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
For his part, Beizhkian expressed his gratitude for Russia's solidarity with the Iranian people in defending their country's sovereignty and independence, and provided a detailed account of the current critical phase of the conflict, according to the Kremlin's statement.
The statement indicated "an agreement to continue communication with the Iranian side through various channels."
