Explosions in Tehran.. Israel Targets "Senior Iranian Leader"
SadaNews - Strong explosions were heard this afternoon, Friday, in Tehran as Iranian media reported American and Israeli strikes on the Iranian capital.
This comes as the Israeli army announced that it had destroyed an underground hideout belonging to Iranian leader Khamenei beneath the regime's command complex.
The Israeli army added that 50 warplanes bombed Khamenei's underground hideout in Tehran, which is still used by senior Iranian officials after his death.
The Israeli army clarified that the targeted hideout beneath the command complex in Tehran was designed as an emergency facility.
Israeli media reported that the Air Force dropped 100 penetration bombs on "Khamenei's shelter" today, noting estimates that Iranian leaders were in the "shelter" at the time of the attack.
Later, the Israeli army's press office announced that it had attempted to assassinate a senior Iranian official in Tehran. In a statement, it referred to a "precise raid targeting a high-ranking leader in the Iranian regime," but did not specify his position or name, nor did it provide any information about the operation's outcomes.
Channel 12 reported that the target of the Israeli raid in Tehran was Ali Asghar Hojjati, Deputy of the Office of the Supreme Leader of Iran.
In this context, the Israeli army issued an evacuation warning to residents of an industrial area in the Iranian city of Qom. Iranian media reported on Friday that explosions shook the coastal city of Bandar Abbas.
In contrast, Iranian television reported on Friday that a ship in the Strait of Hormuz was targeted by a drone, causing a fire. The television did not specify the type of ship or the port from which it sailed, while an Iranian military spokesperson earlier stated that an American oil tanker "is on fire" after being targeted by Iranian forces.
Tehran woke up on Friday to the sound of ongoing airstrikes, as part of a "new phase" of the war that Israel has threatened, this time announcing the targeting of the governing infrastructure in Iran.
