Israel announces largest airstrike in its history against Iran
SadaNews - On Saturday, the Israeli army announced that it carried out the largest airstrike in the history of its air force, executing widespread attacks against Iranian missile and defense systems.
The army explained in a statement that "since the morning hours, nearly 200 fighter jets, guided by the Military Intelligence Division (Aman) and the Air Force, executed a large-scale strike against the missile systems and defense networks of the Iranian terrorist regime in western and central Iran."
The statement added: "This is the largest offensive wing in the history of the Israeli Air Force, executed after careful planning and high-quality intelligence, with hundreds of aircraft synchronized at the same time. The Air Force dropped hundreds of munitions on about 500 targets, including defense systems and launch pads in several geographically simultaneous areas across Iran. Targeting the defense systems allowed for an expansion of air superiority over Iran and dealt a severe blow to the central offensive capabilities of the regime - namely, the launch sites in western Iran."
The army noted that "one of the sites targeted was established in the Tabriz area of western Iran, where the site was used by a ground-to-ground missile unit, and it was planned to launch dozens of rockets from there toward the home front of the State of Israel."
It continued: "The offensive wing that completed its mission thwarted multiple threats that targeted the Israeli Air Force and the home front of Israel."
It also noted that the Air Force "continues, in cooperation with the intelligence division and the operations department, to work in the skies of Iran."
