Palestinian Foreign Minister Meets Maldivian Counterpart

SadaNews - A bilateral meeting was held between the esteemed Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine, Dr. Farasin Shaheen, and the esteemed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Abdullah Khaleel, on the sidelines of the extraordinary meeting of the Open-Ended Executive Committee at the level of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah. This was attended by the Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, His Excellency Ambassador Hadi Shibli, and Second Secretary Aathar Omari.

During the meeting, serious developments in the occupied Palestinian territories were discussed, especially in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, amid the ongoing illegal measures taken by the Israeli occupation authorities, including settlements, annexation attempts, and the imposition of facts on the ground, in violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions.

Both sides emphasized the importance of moving from condemnatory positions to practical steps that enhance accountability and support the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, stressing the necessity of intensifying coordination in regional and international forums, which contributes to ending the occupation and achieving just and lasting peace.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of continued consultation and joint coordination between the two countries within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other multilateral frameworks.
